Winter Grazing Program

The fields have been put to ‘bed’ for the winter, which mostly means mulch mulch mulch. Layers of materials like leaves and straw prevent erosion and keep plants protected. Lots of veggies can hang out in the ground, and be harvested throughout the winter - like kale and carrots. 2025 CSA members are offered the bonus of free DIY winter picking - after a quick orientation of where to go and where not to go, members can come and get fresh veggies while they last! It is important to get oriented, as we rotate crops every year, and there are best practices for harvesting. We also ensure members are aware of hazards and techniques when navigating the muddy field paths. Otherwise, the farm is at rest until March, while we Farmers rest and recharge… and plan new crops and events for 2026!
