Sharing Salad at Growing Eden

The last two Wednesdays I was immersed in the Growing Eden program, surrounded by the laughter of children and their mothers, and a lush thriving garden. We hunted for peas – secret green treasures hidden among green leaves. I held the plant steady while small hands pulled determinedly, until the pea pod popped free. Then we carefully placed each pea into the basket, and the hunt continued. Growing Eden: Painting with Beets

This Thursday was a blast in our South Vancouver Growing Eden garden. The kids picked beets and we made beet paint. Paint got everywhere: the ground, our hands and faces, basically anything in sight. Through it all the kids learned about growing beets, ate beets, and made the most brilliant colours you ever did see. Moms cleaned up the garlic harvest and prepared baskets of groceries to take home.
