We are a settler-led and predominantly white organization farming in the territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ Nations. We want to create a safe space for all to join our community, inclusive of people who have experienced trauma and who seek land-based healing and improved food access. We want to guide our day-to-day work, organizational decisions and future by shared values. To discover our shared values as a community we proposed organizational values of Love, Respect, Kindness and Generosity. Hey guys! Remember that weaving workshop we had at the end of June? Maybe you weren’t able to make it out, but here’s the down low of what happened at our super fun Willow & Dogwood Weaving Workshop! Written by Pendra Wilson Home is where I was today at Farmers on 57th. I was digging holes alone with a pickaxe and shovel. I have to admit I might also have been feeling sorry for myself. Farmers on 57th has been located on George Pearson land, which is a residence for the severely disabled. We’ve been there for 10 years. One of the farm’s mandates is to integrate with the residents. Community gardeners, students in the Grow Your Own Food Course, Pearson residents and staff, Market Gardeners, and neighbours of the centre are all welcome to come out and try their artistic side, no experience necessary.
